SHARK TANK FUTURE??? PHILIP JOSEPH AND HIS INNOVATIVE IDEA OF MERGING TWO CONCEPTS TOGETHER!!! PHILYS CUTS SALON & BARBERSHOP WAS BORN
BRICK, N.J.-- Philip Joseph of Philys Cuts, Salon and Barber Shop, knows what separates a good barber from a great barber. With over 25 years of experience in the profession, whether it be as a manager, a wholesaler of beauty supplies, or a stylist, Philip knew that something had to change in the industry. After doing some research, he soon found out that no one had ever come up with the concept of merging a barber shop and a full service beauty salon together all in one space. Philip says, “It was like a lightning bolt hit; and in June 2017, Philys Cuts, Beauty Salon and Barber Shop opened!” The concept of merging the two identities allows families the opportunity to schedule their appointments together. This makes the haircutting experience more convenient, especially if you have young children. Phillip says, “I took the idea, ran with it, and it’s a home run!” Ever since Philip was a little boy growing up in Lodi, New Jersey on Harrison Avenue, he knew he wanted to be a barber. Harrison Avenue is a street lined with shops, cafes, delicatessens, bakeries, and you guessed it, barber shops. In an exclusive interview with www.NJnewsjersey.com reporters, Philip mentions, “I could have picked any one of those professions to fall in love with, but it was the barber shop that took precedence over them all.” Why? Because as a little kid when he would get his hair cut, he would find himself in awe at what the barber could do with a pair of shears, an electric trimmer, and a razor. He enjoyed watching the stylist take something messy and turn it into a creative masterpiece right before his eyes. The different styles the barber would come up with were inspiring to Philip. There was another element that drew Philip to the profession as well- the atmosphere. He enjoyed the light-hearted rapport and the feeling of community that filled the shop. “It was Tino who was my inspiration” Tino was an old school barber who would cut my hair on many occasions. In 1993, Philip graduated from a school of cosmetology and has since received multiple awards for his perfect traditional-style haircuts. He has conducted numerous educational classes on barbering in salons and at hair-cutting schools all while gaining recognition for his precision scissor work experience. At Philys Cuts, Beauty Salon and Barber Shop, you will find professionalism in every way. There are two barbers and six beauticians on site; each one with their own technique, expertise, and style. Being in this type of business you see a lot of change. It is important for the one behind the scissors to move with the times; not only with the hair styles but with the products as well. Philys Cuts is no exception. Some of the services offered are: beard shape-ups, traditional/classic cuts, urban cuts, fades and custom designs; as well as, hair color and permanents. Philys Cuts specializes in bridal hair styles, waxing, and make-up application. They also carry a full line of hair products for men, women and children. Phillip and his staff take customer service and proficiency seriously. “Listening to the client is key in order to create the perfect haircut. This is what separates ‘good’ from ‘great.’ Thriving on family, community and giving back, Phillip a single Dad is raising two young children himself, he says, We also give back 15% throughout the year to the Brick Township School District for supplies that might be needed or for a family and/or families who may be in need. I will give free haircuts to homeless, veterans and recovering drug addicts at several sponsored events each year and we support several fundraisers for breast cancer awareness. It's a great way to support the community and pay it forward; all while making a client look and feel good when getting their hair done with us.”
