FREEHOLD--BREAKING STORY-November 18, 2017 at approximately 1:15am this morning, two NJnewjersey reporters were traveling north on Route 18 just before the Route 79 exit near Freehold when an extremely fast car almost clipped their car. The car was driving erratically and in two lanes. As we continued traveling up the road a good mile we happened to notice the same car crashed in the ravine. The car was smoking and seemed to be totaled. We pulled over and called 911 and then got out of the car to talk to another driver that had stopped to help. The driver of the car that was in the crash was shaken up but appeared to be physically okay. One of the NJnewjersey reporters spoke to the driver who was a Brazilian woman in what appeared to be her 20’s. The driver claimed that her car was hit by another car, yet there was no other vehicle in site. The driver was seen by these NJnewjersey reporters being taken away in an ambulance and the car being towed. Many police officers reported to the scene of the accident and they were kind, and courteous to these NJnewjersey reporters. We want to thank these police officers for getting to the scene of this accident quickly and taking action immediately. Thank you for your service!
The question we want to pose to our readers and to give them something to think about is, “How fast is too fast?” Route 18’s speed limit in this section is 65 miles per hour, yet many people drive over 100 mph on this road. This NJnewjerseyreporter has seen way too many accidents on this section of Route 18 time and time again. Many of these cars have been flipped over and there have been many fatalities. This NJnewjerseyreporter believes this road needs to be regulated especially since there are many deer in this area during this time of year. These two NJnewjersey reporters even drove past a family of deer on the side of the road prior to this accident. If you are one of the people who are driving on this road at extremely fast speeds you could end up being a statistic. Call a taxi, an Uber, Lyft, your friends or family. Do not let this happen to you! Let this incident be a warning to all drivers on this road to DRIVE SAFE, STAY SAFE AND BE SAFE AND MOST OF ALL DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!
